Online shopping
Online shopping is the revolution of commerce. The world of web has evolved more than we would have imagined in recent years, and it has led to the creation of “virtual” stores. Consequently, you can plan your vacation and book flights or buy things, sitting comfortably on your favorite seat, thus avoiding going to the travel agency or to a shop. All the products we can imagine or we like the most are just a click away… and at a lower price than the one we find in stores!
By now, most of the people who have the Internet can’t resist the desire to buy, even small and useless items. Nowadays, you can purchase almost any product from a variety of websites: from e-Bay auctions to private sales, up to virtual bookstores. The most common purchased include: travel tickets, vacation packages, books, and concert tickets. But what about clothing? It is also classified among the most wanted purchases, but people prefer to go to the dressing rooms of the shops. A possible explanation to this phenomenon is that they find it funnier than buying things online, and I personally prefer to go to traditional shops, too… especially when I’m with my friends.
Nowadays, it’s possible to do almost everything from home: it takes just a few clicks and you have what you want, but you actually receive it after 3, 7, or even more days, since they must be shipped and delivered. Another negative aspect of buying online is that the customer can’t see and try the clothes or shoes on, and some sites aren’t reliable. This aspect is true both for the products quality and for the payment. In fact, another drawback related to buying things online is the fact that using the credit card online may be a risk.
But, of course, online shopping has some positive aspects, too: you have the possibility to buy clothes from home lying on the bed, and you don’t have to queue. Moreover, you don’t have to use the car and this means saving fuel, but also time and money. Sometimes, it is more convenient to shop online, because there are promotional codes, and online shopping allows you to compare prices and products, and also to buy at any time, without any limits.
On the whole, online shopping is more convenient and cheaper than the traditional one, but also traditional shopping has its advantages. All things considered, I think that pros outweigh cons, since thanks to this new service, consumers’ life has improved and the number of choices available has increased.
